React Native identity-verification SDK powering KYC onboarding across Sinar Mas Group's mobile apps.
About the project.
Sinar Mas Group needed one KYC identity-verification flow its mobile apps could share. I chose React Native over separate native SDKs, since every consuming app was already React Native, giving the group one codebase instead of two. The SDK and banking modules shipped with zero SonarQube issues.
Challenges & decisions.
The gap
Several Sinar Mas Group apps needed KYC onboarding. Building it per app meant duplicated work and inconsistent compliance behaviour, and as a banking component it had to meet strict code-quality and security standards.
The options
Separate native iOS and Android SDKs would have meant two codebases to build and maintain, and every consuming app was already React Native. I evaluated native against React Native and chose React Native.
What I built
The verification flow end to end: OCR, liveness check, and KYC form. Packaged and distributed the SDK to consuming teams via private npm.
Where it landed
One codebase instead of two for the group's KYC flow.
Zero SonarQube issues across the SDK and banking modules.
Adopted by several apps inside Sinar Mas Group, especially in banking.
