Sekitar.
Sekitar's shopping app: order groceries and daily needs from nearby stores, with Sekitar Flash delivery in about 15 minutes.
About the project.
Sekitar lets shoppers buy from stores in their neighbourhood, from fresh produce and meat to groceries and hobby items. The app groups stores by category, highlights Sekitar Flash for deliveries in around 15 minutes, and rewards referrals with coins that can be spent at checkout.
Challenges & decisions.
Where it started
The shopper storefront originally shared one codebase with the mobile app through react-native-web: not indexable, hard to cache, and slow to render. I rebuilt the merchant catalogue as a proper web app on Next.js with React Query, so product pages could rank on search and load fast on their own.
The shopper side
Sekitar is the shopper side of the Sekitar and Setoko ecosystem: customers order from local stores and merchants fulfil the orders through Setoko.
Location-first by design
A location-first mobile app: everything from the store list to delivery time depends on the shopper's chosen address, and the catalogue changes with each store's stock and discounts.
What's inside
Location picker and store categories such as fresh, groceries, and hobbies.
Sekitar Flash for deliveries in around 15 minutes.
Coins and referral codes that reward shoppers for inviting friends.
Checkout with discounted prices, item notes, and quantity controls.
Account area with orders, addresses, vouchers, and support.
The hard parts
Keeping prices, discounts, and stock in sync with each store.
A checkout fast enough for quick commerce.
Showing the right stores and delivery options for every address.
What I built
I worked on the shopper app's frontend: the home and category screens, checkout, and the account and referral features.
Built with.
A look inside.
